Prospective Flute Students

The School of Music BuildingProspective students are invited to visit Central Michigan University and to meet with Dr. Joanna Cowan White, Professor of Flute. We also encourage you to attend our Instrumental Workshop on campus in the fall and Instrumental Music Camp in June. Degrees Offered

  • BME - Bachelor of Music Education
  • BM - Bachelor of Music
  • BA/BS - Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
  • MM - Master of Music
  • MME - Master of Music Education

Flute Audition Requirements

Major and minor scales, two octaves or full range; chromatic scale in full range of the instrument, one or two solo works showing contrast and both tonal and technical skill such as a Mozart Concerto, Bach or Telemann Sonata, Poulenc Sonata, French contest piece etc. Sight reading required. Etudes or excerpts optional.
